Overalls - pounamu + ink s/m m/l
Part of our aho collection the artist is referring to the story of the thread.
Tartan invokes so many different themes in Maori culture, some highly controversial yet others specially made for kings. From the 19th century Tartan began replacing cloaks with wool itself revolutionising the variety of fibre available to Maori. Whether seeing kaumatua wearing it on the Marae to finding romanticised photographs online, there is a visual story when tartan is worn. The artist impression has opened up the question to the wearer, what does it mean to you.
